Executive Director of Operations
Administration - Albany, GA
Position Summary
First Methodist Church in Albany is seeking an experienced leader to serve as Executive Director of Operations. This role will lead and shape the operational life of our church in support of our mission to cultivate and equip disciples of Jesus Christ.
The Executive Director of Operations provides oversight for finance, human resources, facilities, and day-to-day operations. Working closely with the Senior Pastor, this leader serves alongside a collaborative staff and lay leadership team to ensure the church’s ministry is supported by healthy, well-led systems.
This is a senior leadership role requiring sound judgment, strong organizational leadership, and a heart aligned with the life and mission of the church.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Leadership
- Provide oversight of budgeting, financial reporting, and internal controls
- Support long-range financial planning
- Ensure responsible stewardship of church resources
Human Resources
- Oversee personnel systems, benefits, and compensation structures
- Maintain appropriate personnel records and policy implementation
- Support staff supervision and evaluation processes
Facilities & Operations
- Provide oversight of maintenance, security, and campus use
- Support capital planning and property stewardship
- Lead day-to-day administrative operations
Leadership & Governance Support
- Work closely with the Senior Pastor to align operations with ministry needs
- Prepare reports and implement policies adopted by leadership bodies
- Support coordination between staff and lay leadership
Qualifications

Administrative Assistant – Pastoral and Membership Support
Administration - Albany, GA
Position Summary
First Methodist Church in Albany is seeking a full-time Administrative Assistant to provide direct support to the Senior Pastor while also helping care for membership records and the daily administrative work of the church office.
This role helps keep pastoral responsibilities, membership records, and key communication moving forward with clarity and care. Working closely with the Senior Pastor and alongside the church staff, the Administrative Assistant plays an important role in supporting the ministry and day-to-day life of the church. This role requires both strong organizational ability and a relational presence, since it regularly serves as a point of contact for members, guests, and ministry partners.
The position reports administratively to the Executive Director of Operations and works under the day-to-day direction of the Senior Pastor, including occasional flexibility to assist with meetings or ministry needs outside standard office hours.
Key Responsibilities
Pastoral and Ministry Support
- Provide direct administrative and executive support to the Senior Pastor, including calendar management, correspondence, calls, meeting preparation, and ministry follow-through
- Help coordinate documents, delegation, and logistics connected to pastoral responsibilities, church committees, and ministry activities
- Support communication and coordination related to pastoral care, including baptisms, births, hospitalizations, and funerals
- Assist with preparation and support for meetings, events, and ministry needs connected to the Senior Pastor’s work
- Provide occasional administrative support to other pastors or ministry and operations leaders as assigned
Membership and Records Administration
- Maintain accurate church membership records and related database information
- Support membership processes, including new member records, transfers, and attendance records
- Prepare membership-related reports and correspondence as needed
General Administrative Support
- Assist with front-office coverage, phones, mail, and other shared office responsibilities
- Help prepare documents, reports, meeting materials, and mailings
- Support volunteers and administrative processes connected to the church office
- Serve as a welcoming and dependable point of contact for members, guests, and ministry partners
Qualifications
- Prior administrative experience, preferably in a church, ministry, nonprofit, or similarly relational setting
- Strong organizational skills and careful attention to detail • Good written and verbal communication skills
- Comfort with church databases and common office software tools
- Discretion, reliability, and sound judgment
- Ability to work well with pastors, staff, volunteers, and church members
- Alignment with the mission and values of First Methodist Church
