The Albany Rescue Mission
The Albany Rescue Mission provides shelter for homeless men and feeds thousands of meals to those in need each month. The Mission receives no government, or United Way funds, and depends solely on the generosity of individuals and churches. While at the Mission, individuals participate in a “New Beginnings” program,
diligently study the Bible, attend chapel services, and work in jobs they’ve obtained, or on mission projects.
Easterseals Megan's House
Easterseals Megan’s House gives families of children and adults with special needs a safe haven; a place where families can leave their loved ones in specialized caring hands and take a short pause from their responsibilities.
The Lord's Pantry
The Lord’s Pantry provides groceries and clothing to those in need. They serve over 1,500 families in our community each year with diligence and compassion. Each day they’re open, you’re likely to see one or more First Methodist members serving our neighbors by greeting and interviewing them, distributing groceries, sorting donated clothing, and more.
Altar Fund
Our church Altar Fund supports many benevolence and emergency aid needs within our church and community, including our weekly SEWN meal and our bike ministry. SEWN consistently feeds more than 125 of our food insecure neighbors in partnership with other churches and organizations. It also provides time for worship and community. At SEWN, we’re also able to look for and interview neighbors who could benefit from additional transportation for work and connect them to our Bike Ministry. In this way Altar Funds are used to help restore dignity and give our neighbors more opportunities to support themselves.
